Spent some quality time with the Mill Brook in Westbrook after a solid snowfall. Those seem to be rare occurrences in coastal southern Maine these last few winters, but when Mother Nature does deign to drop a few inches our way, these local preserves make for splendid winter explorations, even on a lunch break.

The Mill Brook Preserve is a real head-turner in the winter and a prime example of how easy it is to get away into the wilderness…just up the street (and in this case, right off 302). Felt like we were miles away. The preserve features 6 miles of trails on 130 acres of forested land along Mill Brook

There are a handful of trailhead to access this preserve, but the northernmost one at the intersection of 302 and Methodist Road is my preference. See the trail map for parking/access spots and the trail itself.

Go to there, and revel in puffy snow and brook water.
